WOODEN-PEG INSTRUMENTS.

Welcome to my website, my name is Toby Chapman- thankyou for dropping by, I have been making Early instruments since the early 1990's after I completed 4 years of training at the well regarded London College of Furniture { early fretted dept.} I have had a presence on Facebook for many years but decided to do a website before they become obsolete!
I have concentrated mainly on the 6 course Renaissance Vihuela, the 4 course Renaissance guitar and the medieval 5 course Gittern. For each of these I have been slowly revising the design, with playability being foremost in my mind. Over the next few pages you will see a small selection of my instruments, please contact me using the form on the website for any enquiries . To view this website at it was designed its best viewed on a laptop/ tablet, the mobile version is a bit crushed!

Custom Tailored Instruments
Each instrument is meticulously crafted to meet your specific requirements, ensuring a unique sound and aesthetic that reflects your personal style and musical needs.
Each of my instruments are made by hand using only hand tools, there is no CNC, laser cutting, or fancy routers -only a lathe to turn the pegs! I think it is important that if you buy a replica instrument from the past, the way it is made is equally as important.
Expert Craftsmanship
With over 30 years of experience, my instruments are designed with precision and passion, drawing from a rich history of early musical traditions and craftsmanship. All instruments are made by hand with hand tools, blood sweat and the occasional tear goes into every one !!
